I am a scholar of History with specialization in Modern Indian History. My research interests are women’s educational history which I have developed through researching in women’s life narratives and career histories. My research work so far has been taken on an interdisciplinary character which has given me ample scope to explore women/ gender studies as well. Oral history seems to me a research area with great potential and opportunities.
Liberal Arts course is not just an academic course for students but also for the teachers it is an exciting journey of learning with diversity. Conceptual as well as experiential learning are the two strong pillars of the liberal arts course. I am fortunate to be a part of the faculty team of IDSS for Liberal Arts program since my academic background required such kind of environment to grow further.
Being Masters in Medieval and Modern Indian History and researching women’s higher educational history as pioneer contributors at my Ph.D. as well as postdoctoral level, Liberal Arts program gives me several opportunities to explore, design and conduct interdisciplinary papers spread over semesters. My keen interest in developing soft skills and different forms of painting/fine arts gets its due exposure through skill-based papers. Through skill-based papers one learns different skills of choice, such as, presentation skills, anchoring, applied writing, etc. I have been conducting classes on presentation skills and anchoring.
My vision for Liberal Arts course is
As an end note, I wish the students to know that I am a pro-student person, because they have numerous unexplored and unexpressed ideas. I always believe in shaping up the raw vision of young students instead of annulling their nascent ideas. They know how to find their path towards their future. It is us who assist them in building that path.
