I am a cell biologist. I have a research back ground on area related to anticancer drugs and cytoskeleton. Among the chemotherapeutic agents used for cancer treatment, antimicrotubule drugs play an important role because of their ability to inhibit cell division. In addition to their use in cancer treatment, these drugs have recently been found to be effective for the treatment of neuronal disorders and spinal cord injuries. My research primarily focused to understand a) how the drugs regulate microtubule associated cellular properties such as cell division and migration b) how the different cytoskeletal components dynamically interact and coordinate their properties to perform different cellular functions. Understanding how the drugs behave in physiologically relevant concentrations and cellular environments is important to design better anticancer drugs and also to design therapeutic strategies that reduce toxicity to normal tissues.
