Profile

I am an igneous petrologist with particular interest in petrology and geochemistry of mantle rocks. I have worked on the eclogites from the UHP complex in Ladakh. This has been instrumental in understanding some key problems viz. nature of protolith, role of fluids during subduction, exhumation models, P-T paths, etc. The study also highlighted important aspects related to UHP metamorphism which has developed a renewed interest in the overall subject of ultra-high-pressure metamorphism. I am also interested in ophiolites and study the ophiolite sequences located along the Indus Suture Zone. The aim is to primarily decipher the emplacement history of these ophiolites vis-à-vis the evolution of the Tethyan oceanic lithosphere.
