Program Officer, Nicobari Tribals Livelihoods Project Description: This project was located in the remote and ecologically sensitive islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Role: Organized, monitored and evaluated training programs for livelihood development of tribal members. Our team worked closely worked with Nicobari tribals in order to understand their needs and aspirations, vulnerabilities and develop relevant measures to overcome these. Also prepared research proposals, secured grants for research as well as training programs.
Volunteer, National Campaign for People’s Right to Information (NCPRI) Role was to support NCPRI activities and members. Attend meetings and stay updated on Right to Information activities.
Campaigner, Pension Parishad, Right to Universal Pensions for all Description: Pension Parishad is a campaign for universal pensions in India. Role: To organize 3000 workers and peasants gathered on the streets of New Delhi to demand basic pensions from the government.
Volunteer, Kagad Kach Patra Kashtakari Panchayat (KKPKP) Group Coordinator of Survey on Child Labour in Waste picking. We identified over 100 children working in waste picking in Pune city. Did case studies of children of waste pickers who wanted to pursue higher education. Identified odds faced by them and suggested potential solutions. Group coordinator for a survey on waste management of 200 enterprises in Pune city.
Core Committee Member, Socio Club Co-ordinator for Social Outreach program. Was in charge of forming a NGO network for volunteer placement, connect NGOs and student volunteers, monitoring volunteer work. Core Committee member for departmental fest Sameeksha – activities based on theme of Media and Society. Coordinator for Non-Violence Day organized by Socio Cub – made posters, organized exhibition, group discussion, film screening. Wrote and performed two street plays on social issues on university campuses in Pune. Created awareness regarding mainstream development models and water scarcity. Contributions to annual magazine of Fergusson College.
