Abhay Tilak earned his M. Phil degree from GokhaleInstitute of Politics and Economics, Pune. Subsequently he spent about 15 years in the area of applied/empirical economic research, working on a wide variety of research and action research projects in diverse fields such as urbandevelopment, urban employment, finances of Panchayat Raj Institutions, ruralindustrialization, revival of traditional handicrafts, organizing vocational training for workers in small industries and such others. During a brief stint of about five years in the field of Journalism, Shri Tilak was associated with leading Marathi newspapers such as Maharashtra Times, Loksatta and Lokmat. Since 2005 Shir Tilak has been associated with Indian School of Political Economy(ISPE) as an Editor of a Marathi magazine titled “Arthabodhpatrika” which is published by the ISPE. He is also Honorary Director of the ISPE.
Since February 2018, he has been appointed asthe Chair-Professor of Saint Tukarammaharaj Adhyasan, Savitribai Phule PuneUniversity.
